What's happening to my beans?
« on: August 31, 2004, 14:53:27 »
Runners that is. Every year they flower wonderfully then the flowers, or some times v. small beans are to be found on the ground.

I think somethings getting at them -not birds because I netted them -earwigs?

I have some borlotti beans 2ft away and they're fine, they even taste like runners.

ARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

My runners, along with all the rest of my crops, have been a total failure this year.

I had six plants in pairs up polls. One pair was eaten by the slimers when small. Another pair grew a bit, then gave up and refuse to grow anymore. The final pair grew and grew, hit the tops of the polls, flowered, set beans, then got some kind of blight.  >:(

There's a bit of empathy.

I've had the flowers and beans dropping off before and always thought it was in connection with the plant being too dry. Is that possible this year?
gone to pot :D

I even watered them  >:( -I suppose the lesson is to grow them on the allotment, I did get some beans off the half-dozen plants I had growing among the sweetcorn.
