Phone Disconnects Broadband?
« on: January 04, 2009, 11:13:28 »
A mate has Tiscali Broadband. If she is on the computer and the phone rings, it disconnects the internet and the person on the other end of the phone can only be heard through a load of hissing. She has Sky, has filters in...

Any ideas anyone?

Is the phone a cordless one? could be that the broadband and phone signal are operating on the same bandwidth and interupting each others signals. had the same thind with a AV seder for tv signal and phoneline.

Could be one of several problems.  Suggest your friend takes out any phones that are not needed (if there are extensions) and just have the computer/telephone connected through the one filter.  Test it by telephoning your own number from a mobile and see what happens.  If it is the same then change the filter.  If it is still the same after that then try a third filter.

Your friend should try googling "Phone disconnects Broadband" a lot of results come up and there are links to very helpful diagrams.  End result could be an exchange problem which will have to be reported by their ISP.
