help wanted with a rhodochiton -purple bell vine
« on: January 03, 2009, 18:42:55 »
I am desperate to have one of these plants, mainly cos it appeals to my sense of humour.
well i bought a packet of seeds last year none of which germinated so suttons replaced them for me, there were 6 in the pack and now there are 4 and still no plant  :'( :'(
would anyone be willing to take the seeds and try and grow me one (last year they did germinate but i managed to kill it at about 8 inches high) i would meet all costs including postage of said plant back to me and any costs incurred in propagating.
seeds can be sown from feb onwards (says easy to grow!!! ???)
any takers
debs  :)

I already have some and am hoping to grow them for me, mum, sis and gramps.  If they grow and I have spares, you can consider them yours debster.

Hiya,
i can send you lots of seeds as i save mine every year (although it will come back in a sheltered spot. Dunno why the seed merchants are so stingy with them as they set seed easily and there are always loads of them. Anyway, start them now in gentle heat or in a pot with a poly bag - they germinate 2-3 weeks and the seedlings grow slowly but steadily.'
cheers, suzy

Saddad,

Did your seeds germinate?  I think mine have but have them mixed up so am not sure.  I have potted my two on and taken their photo, so could pout them on here if you have anything to compare them with  ;D
