Charity Seed Sale
« on: December 29, 2008, 13:05:13 »
Earlier in 2008 we bought a job lot of seeds.  We knew that we had far more than we needed, and thought this would be a good opportunity to raise a little money for charity.  So our surplus seeds are on offer, many at half the marked price or less.

The way it works is this.  If you look here in the A4A Gallery http://www.allotments4all.co.uk/smf/index.php?action=gallery;su=user;cat=330;u=2335 you’ll see a catalogue of seeds.  There are 9 pages, displayed in reverse order:
Page 9 – Squash and Tomatoes
Page 8 – Salads
Page 7 – Roots
Page 6 – Herbs, Leeks, Others
Page 5 – Flowers
Page 4 – Flowers
Page 3 – Cold Frame & Greenhouse
Page 2 – Brassicas
Page 1 – Beans & Peas

On each page, you see:
Order Code – the number to quote if you want to order that packet of seeds
Type and Variety – what the seeds are
State – whether the packet has been opened or not. The vast majority are new unopened packets, but we’ve reduced the price for anything that’s been opened
Seedsman
Use By – the year by which the seed should be used.  Most are 2010, 2009, or 2011.  A few are unmarked or 2008, in which case we’ve dropped the price.
Retail Price – as marked on the packet or from the seedsman’s catalogue
A4A Price – the price we’re offering them at
# Seeds – How many seeds in the packet
Calendar – Just for guidance, a cross for which months to sow indoors, a tick for which months to sow outdoors

How to Order

Drop us a PM (PM only please, no email) listing the Order Codes that you’d like.  It will be first come, first served, so you may find that some of your choices aren’t available.  We’ll confirm back to you what you’ve got.  By all means indicate second choices.

From time to time we’ll update the catalogue to show what’s left.

Please include a name and address for posting!

We’ll pay the postage charges (we’ve increased the prices of the peas and beans slightly to contribute towards postage of these heavier items).  We've already made a contribution to A4A for the E-Buygumbay fee.

How to Pay

When you’ve received your seeds, please pay at http://www.justgiving.com/melbourne12

Please note that the minimum donation is £2, so you’ll need to order at least £2 worth of seeds (or round your contribution up to £2, of course).

If you’re a standard rate taxpayer, you can increase the amount that the charity receives by marking your donation for Gift Aid.  This sale is within the rules for Gift Aid.

Any questions, please drop us a PM.

Maybe worth mentioning in your post that the charity you're supporting is the Salvation Army- a very good choice, IMHO.
