garlic not growing
« on: December 16, 2008, 16:54:56 »
I planted my garlic mid october and nothing has happened no shoots nothing.  I live in the midlands so i have not had very cold weather a few frosts and lots of rain. Im a little bit puzzled i thought there would be shoots by now.

Mine isn't showing yet either but I'm happy to wait a bit longer. Still have some to plant too when I finish altering the bed it's going in.

I've only got the odd couple poking through, but don't worry. it can sit undground all winter quite happily. the important thing is that it should be able to develop its root system ready for the spring.

I planted mine about the same time. Approx 100 cloves I'd saved from last year. There is just one or two poking through but like Robert said, they can take a while so don't panic yet.

Fret not. It probably depends largely on the variety.  I planted several different varieties in October. One is showing through strongly and the others aren't.  There's nothing unusual in that.
