mini greenhouse/night lightss
« on: December 08, 2008, 14:42:32 »
Has anyone tried using nightlight candles in a mini greenhouse?   If so did it work and where is the cheapest place to buy them?

I use tea lights to raise the greenhouse temps when I'm in there to sow seeds (Feb-March time). They don't last long enough for night use.
Do be careful also as the metal holders get extremely hot  ::)

I have used those big chunky candles in a bucket of water for safety to raise night temps if I haven't any paraffin left.

One A4A member said look out for those chunky candles at car boot fairs/ or cheapy shops.

Purchase good quality night light candles (prices brand), place on a terracotta pot saucer(4"), cover with a 3" terracotta flowerpot, put a crock over the hole to minimise hole size (keeps heat in) should last 7 - 8 hrs per candle  ;)
You couldn't make it up!
