Power cut
« on: November 07, 2008, 23:55:55 »
Yesterday evening we had a powercut and it's amazing how totally black it is when everything goes out! Not even the light-pollution from the street lights to see by!

It might be a good time to make sure you know where the torch is - (and that it is working!) - and can put your hands on candles or night lights or whatever without having to organise a search party!

I am always amazed how quiet the house is during a power cut.  It is suprising how much noise the fridge makes, plus all of our fish tanks.  I quite like the odd power cut, a good excuse to light the candles and snuggle up on the sofa.

Spooky or what.

If only you'd posted this 10 mins earlier.

At 23:50 I too had a power cut. Right in the middle of Lee Mack Live (C4).

Next doors alarm went off and another across the road. Quiet it was NOT.

Strange thing was, that neighbours the other side were OK.

I walked down the road a bit and saw someone fiddling in the sub-station. I went over too find out whats going on & one of the blokes in an EON jacket said one of the phases had tripped.

Gosh, I thought. Eon had got a man on site in the time it took me to find my shoes (in the dark) & walk across the road. Now that's service!

Or ... perhaps, just perhaps ... he was the cause. Who knows.  :-\

No power until 12:45. Still its a very clear night and could see Orion/Aldebaran/Plieadies really clearly.

Really annoyed 'cause I missed the whole of the Verve thingy on C4. >:(

That could just be the 'kettle surge' as Points Of View and Songs Of Praise come on.  :-X
