Got this yesterday for £6.99 in Bargain Bookstore - not *dirt* cheap, but a good buy, as it seems just the book I needed! Lots of great basic info about planting various vegetables and their problems and preferences; about preparing the ground, composting, etc; flowers, too; and all from an organic perspective. For someone in my position - starting a garden from scratch and with little experience of vegetable-growing, it will be a great help, I reckon.
I have the RHS encyclopedias but there's TOO much information there, almost... plus, they don't assume organic methods, so the tips on pest control generally require that you spray with this or that. I'll use glyphosate if I have to, but that's about it...
