read this on the bbc web site and thought i would post a link if anyone was interested.
might be an idea for those of us out there that might be having problems getting an allotment or their allotment is under threat of closure

The nearest allotments to us were sold off for building land.

Despite all our requests, all we are told is that the Staffordshire Moorlands DC has no money to buy land for replacement allotments, so, we haven't a snowball in hell's chance of getting one.

Maybe some councils are entitled to allotments in Iceland now. >:( or  ;D depending on where you live!

I think most councils need a swift kick up the carky ring-piece for motivation as far as allotments go.      Look on the bright side of this recession - nobody is going to buy land to build on in this countries current state of financial affairs.  So most should be safe,  for now at least............
