Welcome to the A4A veggie show 2004
« on: August 23, 2004, 09:43:37 »
On your places, get set, ACTION!!!!!!!!
Get your camera's out or beg, steal or borrow one.

The idea is that for every catagory there will be one thread to post your pictures. If you are the first one to post in a certain catagory, you will have to start a new thread and name it but first look and see if the catagory already exists.

Comments about pictures can be posted on this thread or start a show-talk thread so there will be only pictures on the catagory threads. Otherwise it will be too hard to vote later if you have to weed through all the talk.

No more posting after 6 september when the polls open and everybody can cast their votes.

Good luck.

Ina - can I ask what the decision was regarding flowers and if so what were the categories.  I could start a hanging basket thread if it is allowed.

;D great to see some pictures posted.
I went to SOuthport flower show yesterday & the Shrewsbury flower show last Saturday and saw the vegetable competitions - if I had a basket, I could do a basket of veg selection.
I forgot to put the raspberries on a plate and photograph it before eating (they were yummy though).

Do the pictures have to be of something that you have harvested between 23 and 29 September? ie. can I post a picture of my onions, which are in storage, or is it only things that I have dug out of the ground this week!!

Tenuse, I was wondering the same hahaha.
We had decided to take the pictures between 23 and 29 August (not September you silly hehehe). So, I hadn't been to the lottie today but did have the tomatoes from yesterday. I figuered hey, the picture was taken today so, I posted.
If you have a real show, you take the veggies there, who cares when you harvested right?

Budgy, many of my veggies are gone already, I would have liked to show my fabulous french beans and my crooked runners but alas.
Next time we should be able to post any picture taken in the past year in the show, don't you think? Ah Budge, your stuff looks so good.

Is a category for deformed tomatoes acceptable?  If so, I'll post in a week or so when the ugly lump has finished ripening  ;D.

Ina, I notice that some of the photos of veggies dont have varietys named.. I think that this would be useful especially as some of us may want to try that variety next year.
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

One more question Ina.  In the hanging basket catagory is it ok to post photos of more that one basket???  Not being greedy just got quite a few.

It's everybody's show, I just helped getting it started.
It's all for fun really so whatever anybody can think of to make it more interesting or fun is fine as far as I am concerned.

I can imagine that if someone has three types of tomatoes, he/she may want to post them all on seperate pictures under the same catagory.

I agree, it would make it more interesting if, when possible. the variety can be posted with the picture.

Should I start a seperate thread for cherry-type toms, or just post my pic along with the other toms?

Jill - you are welcome to start an ugly vegetable/fruit thread.

Glad to see even more entries. If all goes well, which I think it will, the A4A 2005 show should be veg/fruit/flowers/produce harvested between September 2004 and August 2005. We can sort out a list of categories which could be more comprehensive and along the lines of a "proper" veggie show.

Glad you like it Ina.  Ava fell on the floor laughing! I figured we must all get the odd 'oddity' when harvesting, so why not!  ;D ;D ;D

It's hysterical EJ. Cheered up my morning when I found it today! Unfortunately all my carrots so far have been boring. I might have to grow some in stony or manured soil on purpose - I want funny carrots!
gone to pot :D

I am more concerned what that carrot did with EJ, who once was a respectable woman.
