Asparagus seeds
« on: September 29, 2008, 14:06:25 »
We're about to cut down the ferns on our asparagus bed. Can you take the small black berries, which we assume to be seeds, and use them as seeds for new plants or is it a lot more complicated and technical than that?
Once upon a time we were the newbies from Harley allotments. Now we're old codgers!

If you leave them they will probably produce small asparagus plants next year, we have lots of them under the main female plants.  You could then dig them up when they're bigger and replant somewhere else.

It's recommended to remove the berries, I never bother (or rather don't have the time) and it doesn't affect the yield at all.
