Sunflower identification please
« on: September 06, 2008, 17:50:46 »
I grew this flower from seed I collected from the Which? Trial Gardens.  Unfortunately the plant wasn't labelled.  It's about 4 feet tall and the flower is about 4 inches in diameter.  Does anyone know the variety please?

Good looker is that one, Georgie. Hoping my late planted ones do that good.
I checked my biggy Sunflower book and you're right, that is definitely a variety of a 4 foot sunflower.

Georgie, I wondered if you ever found out the name of that sunflower?
It's so beautiful I would love to have grown some, too.

Hello Cheerfulness - what a lovely name - nice to meet you.  No, I never did find out what it's called.  But I did save some seeds so if you'd like a few I'd be happy to send you some if you PM your details.   :)

arrrgh! That sunflower is so lovely, I decided to try to find it, trouble is I didn't find a name for it (just more nice pics with no id) and I ended up buying more sunflower seeds from ebay (valentine, they look really nice). I can feel the addiction kicking in again  ;D  ;D
When I'm not working, I'm diggin' or craftin'

LOL!  Valentine looks lovely and I can quite see why you couldn't resist it.   ;D

It's a shame that no-one was able to put a name to my flower.  Never mind, I'll just grow it and enjoy it.   :)

Do you have a couple of spare seeds I could have or swap for
Swiss Giants Mixes Pansies they grow to 6 to 8ins
Aquilegia McKana Giants Mixed 3 inch wide blooms very striking
Fair Lady Mixed wallflowers pastel shades and smell beautiful

If you don't have any Sunflower seeds left but would like some of the above PM me.
