Where did blight hit??
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:08:24 »
Right this year the blight has been bad again. I am trying to map out which were the most badly affected areas.
So

  • Did you get blighted?
  • Where are you growing?
  • What did it hit, tomatoes &/ potatoes?
    • When did it hit?
    • If tomatoes were affected, were they inside or outside?

So I will go first:
  • No blight this year for me, so far :) 05/09/08.
  • I'm in Maidstone, Kent.
  • I grew early potatoes and outdoor tomatoes.

Paignton, Devon.

All outside toms hit with the exception of Red Alert cherry on 22 August. Second year in a row. Three GH plants still okay.

Varieties: Tamina, Super Marmande, Harbinger, Harzfeuer, Striped Stuffer, Amateur, Black Prince, Eristic's trial plum and Hildares.

No blight on Toms,still growing.

No blight on potatoes...........final lifting few weeks ago.

However my neighbour across our close has Blight on his outdoor tomatoes,no blight on his hanging basket tomatoes hanging by his front door.
I gave him the hanging basket, tumbling toms, and I have only grown tumbling toms this year, could it be they are more blight resistant.???

Did you get blighted?    Yes
Where are you growing?   Allotment and home (Southampton)
What did it hit, tomatoes &/ potatoes?   Both!
When did it hit?  Mid august
If tomatoes were affected, were they inside or outside?  Ouside

SW London.  Only one alert, first week of June.

No blight on Potatoes or on Toms at allotment and at home.

Some had potatoes affected by early blight elsewhere on the allotments.

East Finchley, North London.  Blight hit my outdoor tomatoes in last week of August, although Ferline was more resistant to it than other varieties.  It did not affect my potatoes.
