Edible or no?  and if no, why??  I have several different ones on the plot, just for fun, but curious why they are ornamental.

Hi EJ,,
Yes of course you can eat Gourd  but better without skin. Because they are very hard. We're chinese have a lot of different shapes,different way to cook them. I love to grow one or two but I not got the seed. I'm now growing one of them shape like water melon but is marrow. They're huge about 40foot long. All climbing on my allotment fence.

You can eat them whole when they are 'baby' vegetables, before the skin hardens.
