« on: August 13, 2004, 02:41:37 »
i have one of those big black dalek things in my garden and I've noticed that it basically contains an "anthill" - veg peelings the lot. is this good or bad? should i be discouraging the b*ggers?

Ants are a sign that your compost is too dry. Slosh on some water occassionally to keep it more moist - that'll help it rot down too. But don't soak it or it will turn to slime rather than compost.
gone to pot :D
