Capsicum Salsa - is it edible or ornamental?
« on: July 18, 2008, 13:35:54 »
I brought a chilli in a pot from Focus yesterday, the only thing the lable says is "Capsicum Salsa" - it's a pretty little thing but I would like to know if the fruits are edible or just decorative.

I have searched online but keep coming up against the fact there is a recipe for "Capsicum Salsa" that appears on loads of websites.  I have found a site selling these as pot plants, before I email them to ask (and maybe make a plonker of myself) I thought I would ask you good folks first.

Thanks in advance.

I think even ornamental chillies are edible, but like most chillies best to cook unless they are completely ripe.

PS It looks like an annuum (like a Bolivian Rainbow) and the chillies from small plants can be surprisingly hot.

It sounds like the capiscum annum.

You can eat these. If you dare.

Capiscum is pepper
Salsa is sauce

No wonder you were getting recipes!
