this stuff is confusing enough without all the extra language to learn.
does any one have a link to the meanings of all this racking/priming business?

At the bottom of the page there are links to a glossary of terms, basic steps etc... as well as a very extensive collection of recipes. Jack Keller's site is probably one of the most informative sites around & should cover everything you need to know.
If there is too much information for you to take in there & you would prefer something simpler to start with then http://www.wineworldfdw.com/ or http://www.home-winemaking.com/ would be good places to get an understanding of the basics.
