Runner Beans - We may have dropped a clangger !
« on: July 14, 2008, 07:21:04 »
Hi,

When we planted our runner beans in the trench along with the usual compost, shredd paper etc we put some fresh (ish) chicken manure.. now although the beans are growing the leaves are a lime green colour.

The variety we have planted in 'Enorma'

Is this ok ?
If not can we feed or add anything to the soil to help ?

Thanks

Has the ground grown runners before?? If not, get a handfull of soil from under a neighbours well-growing runners and sprinkle and water this in around yours. (introducing beneficial bacterium)  ;)rgds, tony

It could be the chicken manure, but do not worry. runner beans are very tough and they will probably recover with no other treatment altough sulphate of ammonia my give extra greenness.
