Ants

Am trying to sort a very neglected garden, I have unearthed a sort of rubber tub which at the moment is unmoveable but full of soil from which I have pulled all the weeds but in doing so have discovered it is full of ants. I was going to put the left over (half dead) petunias in it - will they be ok or should I do something about the ants first?

our ants don't do any harm, they make the soil lovely, that said, they do take greenfly on to plants to "farm" them so, if your plants are sickly, they might suffer :)
