Topic: It's a great feeling!

I saw somebody say it on another thread.

But it is truly great to be able to pick mixed salad from the garden and by-pass those prepacked bags of mixed leaves, which in my case usually the 2nd half of the bag festers and rots in the fridge.

It may be the only crop I'm eating yet, but it is very satifying.

We picked our first crop last evening - tiny broad beans. Absolutely yummy and packed full of broad-beanyness. Makes it all worth while  ;D

Just had a slice of Mediteranean quiche with Rocket, Red Salad bowl and Lollo Rosso dressed with a simple balsamic dressing for Lunch.  Brilliant!

The rocket is incredibly tasty!  You really can't buy that.

And I let my boss have a taste and he loves rocket and I think I've convinced him to sow some of his own. :D

aaww crystal,bless you honey! i totally agree with you all...its such a happy thing this lottie lark,we refer to ours as the happy place ,in fact...although im away for 6 weeks working right now ((((arrgghhh) and missing it incredibly,as you can imagine..im changing my job now,and totally retraining,so i never miss another week of happiness,you could say the lottie has transformed my life,all for the better.

We picked some shallots and some broad beans for tea last night.    I never thought an onion and some broad beans could make me so excited!!!

We are away for a week on Saturday and I am looking forward to  coming back already to see how things have grown in just a week!!

on Tuesday night we had the first of the spuds (Duke of York), the first of the broad beans (first time I've ever eaten them :-[) and the first couple of baby beetroot followed by more strawberries. everything tasted phenomenal and this is exactly what my face looked like ;D

We have started on our potatoes..........oh yum! Had the broadies while they were small.....yum again! Been picking strawbs for about a week............oh dribbly bribbly!

Not been very good at getting my lettuce done in time.....so Im still waiting for those........anticipating yum!!

I've picked a bagful of broadies, which are currently in the freezer, and the early garlic should be ready soon. About time, since we haven't had any since April. Spuds are going to be a while, since they only went in last month, and they're just emerging at the moment.

I had a surplus of leaf lettace and had to chuck a lot out and that was from half a pack costing 59p!

btw Morrisons 59p pack is the best i have tried!  ;)

Not only is gardening initially so satisfying, it continues year after year! I'm just as excited about picking our snowpeas and blue berries as I was by my first attempts years ago.

It becomes a quest for our personal best like how far one can extend the growing season. Yesterday when our first ripe tomato was picked, which marked the earliest we've ever had to date,  I smiled all day ;D

Awwwwwwwwwwww, GrannieAnnie, I know that feeling well.  For all the years I've had an allotment I've never got over the wonder of it all, every year is as exciting as my first, well maybe better as you try different things and bob's your uncle they work too, mostly ;D

I'm going to see if my new potatoes are ready as they have flowered. I looked at them in Tesco and said no wait till Saturday.

I've got peas and broad beans so a mix will make up a dinner. I see a nice salad coming on.
