. . .to find a cat or something has spent the night in my potatoes.  I've been growing them in a dustbin this year and it had been so far so good.  Now all the foliage is squashed and broken!  To add insult to injury, the culprit then used my red onion bed as a toilet, digging up several plants in the process! Bloody things! What with them, the slugs and the squirrels, I shall be lucky to end up with more than a radish this year!

Im so sorry this has happened  :(
I truly empathise with what you said about ending up with just radishes  ::)
Lots of my crops have been really damaged with the heavy rains & slug fest that follows them  :'(
I am feeling disheartened today too...cant do any major jobs at my allotment because the ground is so wet plus feeling abit like 'whats the point'  :-\

But know this will pass soon...hope your spirits lift soon too & we can both get back our enthusiasm  ;D

Hey thanks for your sympathy.  I'm not suicidal!  I have repaired the damage as best I could and am making a bamboo noughts and crosses cover for my bin.  Let's see what happens eh?

I find bamboo punji sticks very effective for cats.

Disposing of the dead bodies can be a pain but at least they can't crap in your flower beds anymore :)

We have a bucket in the shed!

It was discussed a while back about getting toilets but most people were not in favour when it was pointed out there would be a rota for cleaning. We all seemed to know that there are people who are not toilet trained.

My 'woke up this morning' was yesterday when I found cabbage root fly on ALL my kale :'(.

I used bran around the base to deter slugs, and thought it would act as a barrier against root fly. So didnt bother with collars..........it dont work then >:(

There's a lot more people I'd like to kill than cats.

There's about 4 different cats roam our allotments and none of them stole my kids pumpkins last year. None of them smashed every shed door a few months ago. None of them slashed anyone's poly tunnel.  And no one ever see any cats climbing the fence with over 100 8' canes that got stole last year.

They may catch a few pea eating mice, scare the odd cabbage eating pigeon or two off and be the best scarecrows you can get which is why I welcome them roaming my plots.

I've got a resident cat on my plot, and the minor damage he does to seedlings ocasionally is far outweighed by the absence of mice/bird damage. Maybe you could send the cat to N8R
