East Midlands
« on: May 19, 2008, 17:59:13 »
I am thinking that the Midlands is a massive area and I for one really do not think of myself as a Midlander as the East Midlands is a very distinct area so I have set up another thread for people in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire (unless you regard yourselves as South Midlands) Rutland and good old Lincolnshire.

So to repeat what I have previously said in the Midlands thread.  I am born and bred in Lincoln and having been away (South West, South, Leicestershire, South Yorkshire) find myself back in my hometown and lottying on Wragby Road, opposite Christ Hospital School and a bit down the road from Tescum.

I was born in Leicester, but now in the West Midlands by about 7 miles - we are just soputh of the A5 as it runs between Leicestershire and Warwickshire nr the Fosse Way. I still consider myself to be in the East Mids and have the accent to prove it - me ducks!

I'm Lincs born and bred too and don't think of myself as a midlander, more of an east midlander!  I've also lived away (South West, Scotland, York, Bournemouth) but came back in 06 and am loving it!

Lottying on the Drove Lane site in sunny Sleaford!

Hello Redclanger

Thank you for putting the East Midlands thread.  I am a fully East Midlander living in Leicester.  I had a plot and lost it to the council for their projects and still awaiting for another one.

Regards

Born and bred in Leicester, then emigrated 20 years ago to Wigston(4 miles), where I foolishly allowed a lottie into my life!

Now I have two, and would have to look up "spare time" in a dictionary

Been in North West Leicestershire for 25 years sincde I got married: (1982 Whitwick; then Hugglescote ('83-'86), then Bagworth (86-92), Then Whitwick (92-2001, now Thringstone!) Previously from Old Sawley, and before that, Rotherham (Kimberworth park).

Now the extended family has got 4 and 1/2 allotments on Loughborough Rd, Whitwick that we're slowly turning from dereliction to 'structured disorganisation'. It's taken time as we've had to do everything slowly to uncover trees and plants from the previous owner; on the surface it looks as though little has been done - but when we see our photo's I'm 'chuffed'.

Born in London, lived in London, moved to York and now trying to get back to somewhere in the southeast.  Now in Nottingham  :( which has nothing going for it other than lovely bi9g allotments.    :)
