The seeds are sprouting v. well. Potting on soon. Will keep them in little pots for a while. I don't think they'll be ready for planting in the garden till next year.
Could I ask what you do over winter? I was thinking the cold greenhouse would be OK. Any advice?
And yes, I know they'll be gorged by the sluggers next year, but I have a plan......

Yes! you could do it this way or else you could plant out around September / October ( my preferred method)

Delphiniums are deciduous so a few bites by slugs at this time of the year is generally no great problem as the plants will be beginning to die back in any case.

The advantage I find with the autumn plantings is; the plant determines the time when it will emerge in Spring. Which is better than planting out when the ground might be too cold, and there is nothing for the slugs to eat, plus their message would be;  thanks very much  for the  feed.

I don't seem to have much of a problem with slugs on  my established plants in Spring.

I have tried delphs before in plug form and they were chomped by the blighters.

As this is the first time I've sown from seed, I was a bit wary about what to do. I take your point about the plant deciding when to emerge. Will try your suggestion maybe with half the stock and keep the other half in the g/h.

Will report back! Slugs for the guillotine!!
