Yes, Dear God - I did pray for rain -
« on: July 22, 2004, 16:48:28 »
- but, really, you ought not to waste the stuff.

In 45 years here, we have NEVER seen anything like it. When the thunder started, I said 'oh, goodie!'. Forgetting that I had left the garage & barn open. Too late. When I finally braved it to the barn, there was a 2" deep flood coming through from one door to the other. All I could do was frantically sweep, to try to keep it away from the furniture, fertilisers, tools etc. And , of course, the onions drying out in the garage........? Oh, well - mea culpa!!
Tried to photograph it, but you could only see a sheet of water. = Tim

Tim we are still waiting for it!  I have my fingers crossed, Guinea Pigs bought in, and hatches battened! But it looks like it is brightening up again, my garden is desperate for a good drink! (hope you saved your stuff from getting too soaked!) DP

Pegged the washing in, put all the kids toys away, closed the shed and watched as the rain started....and stopped again!  According to Sally Traffic on radio 2, some areas are in the midst of terrible torrential storms.  I will be glad if they make it to Essex as the garden is cracking and wilting, and the earth at the allotment is like dust!  So long as it is sunny tomorrow as I have promised the kids the paddling pool out, and I really do need to cut the grass!

Well its a big 'un DP, and it's coming your way!  Fantastic fork lightening - Ava and I have been sitting on the windowsill watching it.  The rain has eased now, but still the thunder rumbles!

after weeks of what felt like unremitting torrents, the last couple of days its rained all night and been warm and mostly sunny all day - brilliant for the garden....not so good if you left a woollen blanket on the lawn during the day and forgot to bring it in overnight!

It absolutely chucked it down in my part of the world yesterday evening. I'd fallen asleep on the sofa to light drizzle and awoke a while later to stairrods and thunder. Most lovely to listen the rain lashing down, whilst bathed in the cool air wafting through the open windows and watch the rain by the light of the silvery streetlamps. I love summer rain storms! Hope the pond hasn't overflowed! (didn't have time to check this morning)
gone to pot :D

Just noticed the wheelbarrow - measured the water - 3". Not the 'correct' measurement.
All in 20 minutes! = Tim

PS - checked with neighbour today - he recorded 1.25" on the gauge! That is WET!
