we are still taking bindweed roots out, and half the plot is covered and still needs to be done.

Its quite funny when others on the site say "oh I have taken out so much bindweed" and they have half a wheelbarrow full from a full plot...  :D

Assuming they are council slabs, that area is 20' x 16'?

They are council slabs, but not all the same size. If I go down tonight, which I probably will when Sparkly gets in and wants to go nosey around I will remember to take a tape measure!

Whilst laying that last flag (furthest in picture) I hit a piece of metal, pulled it out and it was a scaffolding clamp. Had a bit of a dig in the base of that heap and found a bag full of them all rusted up.

I should start a list of all the random things found on the plot!

We have the same thing with Marestail.People don't realise that you have to dig it out. They think the hoe will kill it, which is nearly as bad as rotovating.

You've made a great start, keep it up.

See if you can get yourself a ''road fork'' they are super strong contractors prongs that the road gangs use.The tines are longer than a standard fork, and you'll be able to dig a lot deeper in one hit.

They work out far cheaper in the long run, I used to go through 2 or three forks each season, either the handles would snap, or the tines bend, then snap.

Wow :D ... looks like you have some terrific soil there Ant ... not having been cultivated for a time it might be a good producer this year !!  ;D

Happy plotting!  ;)

Fantastic job.  Is the 'hill' the other side of the path yours as well?

Yep, thats Mt. Compost... stands over 7 feet high. There are a few dandelions popping up but no bindweed yet so may come in useful  :)

The area at the front left of that picture (next to the 'hill') will be where the shed goes :)

An allotment with ski slope!
GReat work and the soil looks wonderfully dark.
