Calendula - I wanted to know exactly the same, then I looked a bit closer...... and now I think they're tulips!  ;)

Yes it is a tulip but the labels only say 'tulip' so I will have to research the catalogues I used and see if I can find the name.  It was new last year because the border was created last autumn. It is only about 6 inches high and does look stunning when fully open in the sun.
