Cold and dry over here in my part of the East Mids, hopefully with the forecast saying that it is going to be dry this week, next weekend for me it will be sowing my leeks in pots and keeping in doors, then I will be on the lotty at the weekend with the rotovator, at the same time the Broad beans will go straight in to the ground, that's my first job done, :)

Overcast, never got above 6C, biting cold wind too, but no rain.  Unpleasant day for being outside.

Sunny this morning and lovely blue sky whilst playing tennis.  Got colder now.  Thursday is meant to be hot, so a day at the allotment would be good, and maybe I can get OH to do some pruning of my apple tree and mend my bean support and rotavate etc. etc.

Anybody with rain can direct it down here please. We might even get 18C on Friday...good for my day at the allotment but it may mean there is no point without the rain. Soil in my raised beds is dry...not looking good  :(

We have been newly designated a drought area. But the soil is too soggy to dig.....East Sussex. Windy and warmish.

Thank you what a fantastic response I have to my request!!

It's raining hard. I have to go into town soon and all the non-gardeners will be there whingeing about the rain (rainfall in Cambridge for last year c.360mm and we get less than they do) they'll be saying (as usual) it's horrible it's always raining.

Kea,

Yes it rained here too - at long last, for a while.  Strong wind from the South and the rain felt like needles on my cheeks.  Got soaked on my way home.  Later a bit more drizzle, but nothing substantial.  At the moment cloudy, with occasional sunny bits.

We have been told that a hosepipe ban from March onwards is now all but inevitable on LookEast, our local BBC programme, alongside pictures of reservoirs that are well depleted.  Usually we have very heavy winter rains, which stayed away these last two years.

Sorry this isn't as much 'weather today' as 'long term climate' in our part of the country.  Any advice on water saving veg gardening appreciated.
