Pontypridd is like an ice rink all the boys on the council working flatout  no good complaining just get the shovel out and help. Not haveing a dig at the youngsters but my dad and i would go up and down the road with all the neighbours  and clean front steps, & paths , we  all seem a bit stand offish today. Never mind a big thank you to all the services during this spell of bad weather. The thaw has started in wales all roads are bad  but shops well stocked.

Beautiful, cold and icy out.
Just been for a walk to the allotments where I was glad to see the plot robin.

We're snowed in.   Been here nearly 18 years and had some horrible winters but this is a first.  Overnight on the 23rd we had more snow on top of what was already there plus the layer of ice below that.  Woke up to find a 3' drift of snow outside the front door and behind the car and all along the road.

Fortunately we'd done nearly all the grocery shop on the 23rd as there was no sign of a snowplough or any other vehicles apart from farmers using their tractors to g and get their bread and groceries and, for our neighbours who run a riding school, extra supplies for the horses and ponies.   OH walked 3 miles into the local town to get a few bits and bobs and found assorted cars stuck in firlds, snowdrifts or just waiting and frustrated trying to get to relatives in the village further up the other way.

This morning a snowplough finally came along and cleared a single track in either direction.  Let's hope he makes it back to clear a double track or people will still get stuck.

Meanwhile, Rasta doggy is thoroughly enjoying leapin and bounding in salt free snow and the birds are feasting on all the seeds, fat balls, peanuts and old fruit I've put out for them.   Clever Rasta doggy has killed a huge rat that's been helping itself too.   The cat is sensibly staying indoors and tucked up warm.  he has one leg missing after a road accident so doesn't do deep snow.

I hope everyone is safe and warm out there in lottie land and can enjoy the beauty, if not the inconvenience.

At long last .."the gentle rain from heaven" !! Still not enough to melt the "hills" of snow but it's doing its best.

Rain overnight, overcast and a bit foggy this morning. It feels much milder and the snow has pretty much gone now although under the surface the ground is frozen. The birds were having a good old sing song this morning  ;D
It is odd to see green all around rather than white!

Still lots of slushy snow in Birmingham, but at least it's melting slowly.
