.... West Essex ..... is a bit on the wet and windy side!  Blimey, could hardly see my hands infront of my face a few minutes ago!  We've also had thunder and lightning on and off for the past three hours or so.

Unpleasantly cold & damp this morning - nearly turned the central heating back on, but the planet won & I added 2 or 3 extra layers to my normal garb. Then wet & windy all day; frequent very heavy showers with absolutely no notice!

Off to Hampton Court on Wednesday. They forecast wall-to-wall heavy rain (several inches).

But the plot's looking good. (Glad I cut the paths on Friday!)

Non-stop wet stuff down in West Sussex :(
If I ever get it all right - then that's the time to quit.

Well it saves having to do the long trek back and forwards to the water trough to water all the newly planted plants. Unfortunately my new water butt is not filling  :'( because the one it's joined to sits on a pallet which has now broken making the water outlet from the first butt to the second too low. It leaks out instead. However I still have a lot of work to do like leeks needing transplanting and grass needing cutting etc

I did have some fine weather yesterday afternoon and picked 2KG Raspberries and 800g strawberries and the last of my gooseberries which were huge. But the rest of the day had been busy with getting my son to his clarinet exam and  the day before, his piano exam.

Raining non-stop again today, but did some shed maintenance. This was a little awkward as a wren has built a nest in the roof (there are still a few places where small birds can get in).  Her chicks were squeaking loudly to be fed, so I had to keep going outside in the rain while she came in to feed them.

You should have been at Hampton Court! (No - you shouldn't!!)

Falling down all day. (It's still falling down now.) Dismal, muddy, depressing. Staff doing running repairs to the marquees as we were walking round; dumper trucks spreading wood chips; all brollies at eye level. We left at 2.00 exhausted & fed up. We just felt sorry for the exhibitors & staff, who are still there!
