PS I'm trying two sisters this year (sweetcorn & squash) - might go  the whole hog next year....

I have done the squash \corn bit and it works well the squashes can go mad and don't get in the way and keep the weeds down
I think I would have struggled with the beans tho' .

I usually grow squashes under corn and find it works well; I just leave gaps when planting out corn, them slot the squashes in. I'm hesitant about adding beans as the corn would be pulled about rather when picking them. I believe the method was originally used with corn varieties which are a lot bigger than the ones I grow. I have grown pumpkins under wigwams of beans, and once again, it worked well.

The original idea was that the beans supplied the nitrogen to the corn,  the corn supported the beans and the squash blanketed the weeds.It works OK if you do it on a circular  hill  with room, but not so in a row.

There is a whole website devoted to this ?? somebody will know the name.

As i am going low maintance this year i am doing 2, 3 sister beds :)
