Bulk Ordering
« on: January 29, 2008, 20:30:14 »
When ordering new seeds and plants each Autumn and Spring, how many of you combine orders with fellow allotment owners ?
Think of the carriage costs that could be saved. Not to mention the environmental issues think of the amount of road miles that could be saved.
Bulk buying can give you a bit more buying power and discounts could be asked for.
Surely it would be easy to manage !!!!
Be very interested to see the comments.

For bulk buying I would recommend Moles Seeds.

Hello springs. For a lot less than that amount Kings give us 50% off and the service is excellent.

When we lived in Basingstoke the gardening/allotment club used Kings and there was a great selection.  When we moved the local Allotment group used Suttons.  When I suggested they look at Kings for the variety and they fact they were cheaper I was told that the members like pictures in their catalogue!

Our lottie association bulk orders with DT Browns - 45% off seeds and 10% off everything else.

2 yrs ago I ordered a fig tree, which was damaged on arrival. They didn't have any more, so refunded the cost of the tree AND gave me £6 in vouchers
Best wishes,

VP

This is another good point, are catalogues an important factor nowadays ?. Websites can display much more up to date information.

We have to order from the catalogue to get the discount.

I also like to go through the catalogues marking which seeds I want to order, might order etc. AND do this away from the computer - I spend far too long on here!  ;)
Best wishes,
