Berkshire Potato Days
« on: January 04, 2008, 18:30:59 »
Hi

Does anybody have any useful links for finding potato days around the Berkshire region? I'v tried to google "potato days Berkshire" but have not met any success.

Last year I ended up with 18 different varieties and am looking forward to trying some new types this year. Unfortunately, as I am relatively new to the area, I have no idea where the shop that I visited actually is!

All help gratefully received.

Are potato days some sort of market for seed potatoes?

Who organises them?

Zoglet - there's one in Whitchurch (Hants, but near Berkshire) the last weekend in January. We go every year, it's good.  Held at Testwood School.

As far as I am aware, they are organised by potato growers as a way of selling their seed stock. The great thing about them is you can buy small quantities of different varieties, so even if you have a small area for growing, you don't have to be limited in what you grow.
