new turf - advice required
« on: October 17, 2007, 13:46:57 »
hubby laid new lawn at the weekend, very glad of yesterdays rain, but can anyone tell me how long we should leave it before we mow it?

Just wondering if we should leave it until nxt year, or try and cut it at least once this year maybe?

Thanks

I'd give it a gentle cut as soon as it's "gripping" - when the roots are into the soil. Certainly wouldn't let it get so long the blades start to keel over.

It should have been mowed before it was cut, The only danger now is if you get a frost. Remember the grass is a bit stressed right now and the longer you leave it the better otherwise the frost will 'burn' it
