Identifying dormant pelagoniums for next year

Dunno if this will work but have heard this by phone from one of my laydeeeees just now. She keeps her plants in their pots in her conservatory over the winter...

Today she's taking a petal from each of the many plants she's got, sandwiching it between 2 layers of clingfilm giving an airtight fit, then taping the petal to the pot....
