Yes cj, they'll be fine. Very healthy - better than the ones I bought from Marshalls (I think) last year. I meant to say, the roots had started growing into the kitchen roll so are clearly keen to get going!

Runners arrived today. Thanks ;D ;D ;D They are really well after their extended stay at the GPO! My runners had rooted into the kitchen roll too, Ollie. Here's hoping for a bumper strawberry year in 2008!

Sorry I haven't been near the lottie having been off to France the last few days. Anyone still short of marshmallo runners? Can't promise anything till I get there and see what's what but there were certainly plenty last time I was there.

Hope you enjoyed your break in France, Anne.

I would love some Marshmallow strawberry runners please if you have any more to spare please.  John is going to make me a raised strawberry area in the Spring, as shown in the picture.   We got the idea from a nursery that also does "Pick your own".

The advantage of having the strawberries up high is that the slugs and snails cannot get them so easily and the weeds should be minimal.  Easier to pick too and because polythene pulls over the plants, I would be able to let the chickens out beneath them.

I have a few strawberry plants already but they have become mixed and I have never tried the Marshmallow.   Is there anything you would like in return Anne?  If not I could send you the postage.

Yippee!!  Mine were there when I got home.  A bit worse for wear but after a long soak I popped them into some lovely new potting soil and gave them another water and into the greenhouse they went.  I will keep them safely there until the Spring and plant them out.

Once again many thanks.

If you still have any runners going spare I would be grateful for them.

I can swop too - if there is anything in particular that you are looking for let me know - I do have some lemon coriander seeds at the moment that are a bit unusual to try.  Heaps of other stuff as well though so let me know as I might have it.
