new strawberry plants
« on: June 26, 2004, 14:10:11 »
Hi all :D
I have inherited on my allotment several strawberry plants (varieties obviously unknown), I have picked a few berries and they have been ok, but there were not many of them :'( Is it worthwhile planting up some of the runners to create new plants for next year ??? or should i just rip them out and buy new stock?
                                        cheers, Adrian.

Hi Adrian, if you look in the gallery all this years strawberries were runners from last years stock. In my view (for what it's worth) i keep the main plants for 3 years plant the runners then remove the original stock, done this for years and the strawberries taste great (when i get a chance to taste them) .
Hope this helps.

Peter
