A few pics
« on: September 26, 2007, 16:35:22 »
Took a few pics in the greenhouse & tunnel this morning that I thought you might like to see;

Watermelon;

Tomatoes still growing

Some giant sweet pepper (see tape measure)

Some standard sized sweet peppers;

Still producing a few Aubergines;

I'm afraid my Melons didn't come up to expectations;

TG, please what's your secret with sweet peppers?  Whenever I've tried to grow them they have been small thin skinned rubbish.  Your's look fantastic.

There is no secret really, well at least none that I know of.

The only thing I can think of is I use my own seed and go through the same procedure each year see here; http://tinyurl.com/yumflv

I think growing them in the greenhouse border as opposed to pots is one answer.

I have noticed when I give my son and daughter potted plants (from the same seed) theirs do not do so well.

I also think growing them under glass helps.

Don't coddle them too much, regular watering, and the occasional feed is all I give them, the rest is up to them.

Thanks TeeGee, shall have to have a go at growing them in the greenhouse border.  Have always grown them in pots before.

Why? Did you want me to save some seed when I harvest them? in fact I might still have some of the original seed left.

Hi TeeGee,

At the risk of being very forward and relatively new here, if you have a few more to spare I would be more than happy to have some and pay postage.

I love your Gardeners Almanac BTW :D

Not at all star!

Just send me your name & address and this applies to any other interested parties if you want some.

I don't expect to be harvesting for a week or two yet so that gives you all time to get in touch and also for me to know how much seed to collect.

Hi TG,

I'd love to give your Northern Yellow a try if you a have few seeds spare.

I know you tend to collect your own, but is there anything I can offer you in return? I've a pretty wide range of seeds. If you name an area or two, I'll send you a list of what I've got.

My address is:
