vanilla growing ?

I was wondering if anyone has tried growing vanilla plants ?  ::)
would they grow in england ? ???
I would like to try so any info welcome. :D

1. the plants grow 50 feet long
2. heated green house is must
3. hand pollenation is required
4. Artificial light will be required.
5 2 years be for the plant flowers.

I think you'd have to have a pretty special setup for them, I've only seen them growing twice - once in a tropical glasshouse and once in India so pretty hot and humid conditions in both places.

Mind you they were quite pretty plants, some kind of orchid I think.

Anyone here have a 50 foot greenhouse (long or tall???)  In the right conditions it would be a great plant to grow, though.
