Dead Hydrangea?

What do you think has happened to my hydrangea? One day it was healthy the next day it withered and I have cut it back to try and restore it. It was a beautiful deep rose colour, quite out of the ordinary.

Can't get the link up so can't have a look.. sounds like something unpleasant... Fireblight would do that but I didn't think they were prone..
