First single - Teenage Rampage by The Sweet

First Album - had loads of those crappy Top of the Pops things, but the first proper one was Outlandos D'Amour by the Police.

First gig was (I think) Judas Priest at the Hammersmith Odeon - organised by my local youth club!

Cheers,
Rob ;)

I was amazed when I saw the question, because it's an ice breaker I have used for a long time now, whenever I am somewhere with people I don't know!  It always kickstarts a conversation!  Mine was God gave Rock and Roll by Argent (single) and LP was the very first K-Tel LP, 1971 I think, with the real artists on! Like, Love Grows where my Rosemary Goes (no pun intended!), the Chelsea football song Blue is the Colour, and Brand New Key by Melanie!
Live each day as it comes, but plan your tomorrows.

First gig - (now this is really embarrassing  :-[) - Frankie Vaughan at the Kings Theatre, Portsmouth. How we screamed when he kicked his leg while singing 'Green Door'! My Mum always said no good would come of girls who watched 'that sort of carrying on'!

The first single I bought was with my dinner money. I had to borrow tenpence cos the record cost 5s.10d and my dinner money was only 5 bob. I starved for the bloomin week but it was worth it. Trouble was I could only play the darn thing when me dad went out cos he would have ased where I'd got the money from. They were hard times alright. BTW the record was Living Doll by Cliff Richard. I was head over heels in love with him then. Can't stand the bloomin sight of him now. I became more of a Bob Dylan and Yadbirds and Small faces fan when I seen sense. Nowadays I like George Michael. I have all of his stuff.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

My sister was 11 years older than me so I didn't have much call to buy music until I developed different tastes.  My first 7 inch (bought second hand) was an EP and all I remember was that it included Your Song and Too Busy Thinking about My Baby.  First Album was David Bowie's Hunky Dory.

I bought my first records with my birthday money.

They were:
Three coins in a fountain by Dean Martin
Unchained melody by Jimmy Young
Young love by Tab Hunter

They were all 78's   :D

The first 45 I bought was All shook up by Elvis Presley.

I have no idea what was the first single or lp was in my collection.  I was a bit of a collector so had box fulls.

First gig was Fine Young Cannibals at the Brixton Academy.

Bloody hell! Sorry, but... bloody hell! If that was your first gig, everything since must've struggled...

Cheers,
Rob ;)
