Damselfly Migrant Hawker
« on: July 18, 2007, 19:43:29 »

I was busy cleaning out weed from my Pond when I spotted this on a  fern.  Nearly fell into my Pond taking this picture.  I didn't know what  it was but think its a Migrant Hawker after looking up my Wildlife Book.  Correct me if I am wrong.

Dragon, not damsel. Dragons rest with the wings outstretched; damsels are altogether more delicate insects which fold theirs together. It's an Aeshna, probably caerulea. It likes stagnant, acid water, and there's plenty of that in Berwickshire.
