Fresh Plum and Icecream
« on: July 12, 2007, 12:16:38 »
I picked my first 10 ripe plums yesterday, cut them up into small squares and had them with vanilla icecream. I was delicious ;D

But there was also a problem; 3 of the plums had a little white Caterpillar 1cm long inside and the affected flesh was a red/brown colour. not nice >:(

Is it plum sawfly? and if it is will it get worse than the 7 to 3 ratio?

Difficult to say - mine are usually affected in that kind of proportion.  About 4 years ago I tried hanging a sticky paper in the trees, which is meant to attract and trap the male sawfly.  It didn't seem to have any effect though.  But last year we had loads of plums and hardly any were affected.

I was delicious
You look it
