hemerocalis
« on: July 11, 2007, 18:26:42 »
I read somewhere on here that you could eat these flowers. Have been looking around and cannot find the thread. Anyway a friend gave me one to try today and to my surprise it was very nice. I stared at the stem end which tasted like mange tout and then the petals which were a bit peppery. Will definitely be using them when I want to impress.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Did you watch the Gardeners World programme from the Hampton Court Flower Show shirlton.  They were eating the hemerocalis :)  I bought a plant recently which has yet to flower. They will definitely brighten up my salads when it does ;D
Happy gardening all...........Pat
