Garlic Rust?
« on: July 02, 2007, 18:25:12 »
Just been having a look around the veg plot. I spotted that the leaves on my garlic plants had flopped over and starting to turn brown. I thought they were just dying off and were ready to be lifted. On close inspection though the leaves werent brown but orange with what appears to be a kind of rust fungus.

I need to know what to do now, as i have never come across rust on an allium before. They are ready for lifting so how will the rust affect how i lift and store/use the garlic? Will I be able to store it at all without fear of speading the rust to future crops?

Please help.

Lift them now Richard. It's quite common, don't worry. The rust won't affect their keeping properties.
