Potato Blight!
« on: June 18, 2007, 21:05:18 »
My earlies have been looking a bit poorly but put it down to the cold spell.

Went down to the plot tonight for the first time in just over a week. They all look like they have blight, some plants have totally shrivelled to dark brown and others are well on their way to the same.

As these are earlies and I had been digging them up, my plan is to dig up the rest and spray the remaining main crop, which look fairly healthy, with a Bordeaux spray. Couldn't dig any up tonight as promised Rob faithfully wouldn't do anything as only been a week after the op and not sure the stitches would take it :o

Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Cut the haulms off and burn them, or dispose of them away from the site.  Then spray the unaffected ones.  Then cross your fingers and pray they'll be OK.  Then get someone else to dig up the affected ones.
