1 pole is a linear measure and is 5 1/2 yards. The normal use of the term as a SQUARE measure is 5.5 x 5.5 = 30.25 SQUARE yards.
So your plot of 12 pole is 12 x 30.25 = 363 sq yds.

This of course can be a variety of diffferent dimensions such as .... for simplicity... 10 yds  X  36.3 yds.

Our plot is allegedly 10 pole, but measures 21 ft x 140 ft approx, which works out to 327 sq yds or 10.75 pole.
Grow your own and enjoy the fruits of your labours,
Regards Alan.
