Last year's wine efforts
« on: June 02, 2007, 17:58:34 »
Had a blitz yesterday and racked and bottled most of my produce. I put them into 2 litre plastic cider bottles, if there is any rogue fermentation the bottles can stand it, and they can be dropped into the freezer to make fast chilled wines.

My efforts yielded the following ...
rhubarb 12 litres
parsnip (with cane sugar) 3 1/2 litres
blackberry 4 litres

I still have two demijohns to rack, but needed a rest after that lot !

The rhubarb is truly delightful, (my favourite) a sharp white wine, gorgeous on a hot day when iced. My preference is as a fruit cup, with orange juice.

Parsnip is very sherry like, not really to my taste, but will get used a lot in cooking I think, since we like stir fries with sherry added.

Blackberry, another good fruity wine, this is dry with lots of flavour.

Apologies if my typing becomes erratic ...

Derek :)
The impossible is just a journey away ...
