What did you do at the weekend, Daddy?
« on: June 01, 2004, 12:48:14 »
Planted last 2 rows of spuds in "reclaimed" ground as a cleaner.
Potted up tomatos.
Planted the last of the leeks & onions.
Sowed Hamburg Parsley, Beetroot, Carrots in ground.
Planted brassicas to replace those that hadn't taken
(PSB, WSB, Kale & cabbage).
Planted late Brussels sprouts.
Set Broad & French Beans.

Guess who's glad of the rest now he's back at work?
Sumer is a coming in....

This mummy went camping( in tents  ;D ) to the Lake District with hubby, dog, two kids and with brother, his wife their two kids and their dog !!

The weather was fabulous  8) even though the camp site wasn't  >:(

For note: Camp site was called Dale Bottom Farm in Keswick and I would not recommend it to anyone unless you take your own loo roll to the toilet and like to pay 20p for the privilege of a cold shower :o

The weekend of the 22nd got a call from one of the lottie holders asking us if we wanted some manure so went over on Saturday  and shifted almost a ton of it, in the hot sunshine, it was steaming so were we.  Left the lottie that weekend after also having weeded and strimmed,it looked very orderly and neat.

All last week weeded, dug and planted out pots and hanging baskets, and mowed lawns at our home garden, ready for our sons 30th Birthday BBQ in the garden.  Put a tent up, cooked loads of food and had a very jolly time. Chilled out yesterday.  Today had torrential rain and popped over to the allotment, just to look at it.  Expected to see it still being neat and lovely, but with all that rain and a week of neglect, grass had regrown and tiny little weeds up all over the place. Couldn't believe how overgrown it looked.  So dry weather willing, over again tomorrow to catch up. Don't know how you working people manage, particularly with children to look after.  You are super humans!  ;D busy_lizzie

What's an iron -we found ours when it fell off the wall  ::)

I went sailing -first time this year, hooray  ;D
Nice picnic, ran aground, but nothing fell off and came back with the same number of crew I started with -so it must have been a success.

Also went to the lottie, and poked around with a hoe a bit, and 'eartherd' up the maincrop spuds with lawn clippings. I think it was a bit of frost on the leaves that got them.
