Peas nibbled!
« on: May 19, 2007, 07:39:37 »
I took my peas frum under netting last week and put up my pea sticks, hoping the twigs would keep everything at bay but I noticed yesterday that something has been nibbling the ends off - it's only the ones that have been pulled or have fallen away from their twiggy poles.  Rabbits, mice, pigeons???  How can I protect them - the twigs are too "twiggy" to put netting over?

I'm guessing birds of some sort.....I'm growing peas at my lottie for the first time, and have found they seem to prefer the smaller sized plants, they have left my bigger ones alone now they are halfway up a wigwam! Just the lower leaves have the edges pecked off... :-\
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

I have created a fortress of twigs and small chicken wire with CDs, tin cases strung between.  It'll probably be a beetle after all this!!   ;)
