- one of my references ( Chempak) says:
'... and since cucumbers require a minimum night temperature of 60F....'

So which country do they live in?? 51F here for the last week. And yet we pick from late June till mid October. = Tim

Temperatures below 60F increase the stress on the plants, Tim. The more prolonged the cooler temperatures the more the stress and, most importantly, the greater the risk of opportunistic infection.
Cucumis sativus, the common cucumber,  comes from southern Asia.

Yes indeed, John - I meant which country do these white-coated experts live in, if they think you can get 60F in the Cotswolds before the end of June? We've had 50F in July - & ground frost in August!! = Tim

The country that wants everyone to buy greenhouse cucumber seeds?
You make the Cotswolds sound like Vermont- over the years I have had frost damage in every single month!
